Anjelica, Brittnay, Brooke and Sami

Back in May I held this contest which Brittnay won.  Well Brittnay finally got to cash in on that this past weekend.  She decided to get some photos done of her and her friends.  These girls all go to Sam Houston and were awesome company to spend the afternoon with. We started a little later than we had originally planned, but I think we still managed to get some great shots!

Rome Wasn’t Built In a Day

It’s time to get real people.  See, I have this dream.  I want to be one awesome, super successful wedding photographer.  But I don’t just want to take awesome photos at weddings.  I want it to be my full time career.  I may be on my way to getting there, but I’m not there yet.  I’m learning that it’s easier said than done.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret…I’m not a patient person.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty patient when it comes to other people, but when it comes to me and what I want for myself?  I want what I want now.  Quite honestly, that has been the hardest part of this whole process for me.  Essentially, I’m building a new business from the ground up.  The saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”  But that doesn’t stop me from wanting to build Rome in a day.  I’m struggling with this concept.  And I’m struggling with waiting and being patient.  It is so not my strong suit.

So what’s the point of this post?  Why the heck am I sharing some of my innermost thoughts on the web.  Thoughts that I might not want everyone to know. Well, simply put, I don’t want to hide who I am.  And I don’t want to pretend that I’m someone I’m not.  Most of all, I want to be able to look back one day, read this and know that it all turned out alright.

This photo was taken on my plane ride home from my Caribbean Cruise Adventure.

Stan (J.R.) - Kasey, I remember a teacher once told me. “Good Things Take Time”! Just let it!September 2, 2010 – 2:53 am

Laura - Nice photo from the sky. Wow. And yeah, I know you want it NOW but I know you well enough that in spite of wanting it NOW you are willing to wait for the LATER for the rewards. Keep chugging along Kasey. You have wonderful natural talent and keep negotiating those slow aspects of life like building a business. Talk to my brother…he might have advice about patience with business.August 31, 2010 – 9:55 am

Lindsay- Galveston

You may remember my friend Lindsay from here.  Well I had the great pleasure of working with her again last weekend when we spent an afternoon in Galveston taking more photos.  I love working with Lindsay because she makes my job SO easy!  If I wanted to, I could just tell Lindsay where I wanted her to stand and say “I dunno…do something” and she would pose completely on her own!  I never experiment with new things or ideas on a client shoot, but I knew Lindsay wouldn’t mind if I wanted to try something new.  She was super patient!

Don’t forget to be on the lookout for Lindsay at the Texans game this weekend!

We started out near The Strand.

I’m not sure what it is about these next few (the color, location, expressions), but they are some of my favorites from the session.  I just love the feel of them…fun and lighthearted.

I think I snapped this next one right after I told Lindsay to act like it’s a perfectly normal thing to do to sit on top of this.  Nothing weird about it at all, right?

Then we headed down to the seawall where this magic happened.

Seriously, I was loving the light that day.

I could have shot here all day, or at least for another thirty minutes or so.  We wanted to, but beach patrol came by and ran us off which was super lame if you ask me.  We’re not ones for arguing so we left.  I’ll leave you with this last one.

Lindsay, thanks for being AWESOME!  I hope you find at least a few that you fell in love with!

Stan (J.R.) - Kasey, there is only one question for this. What are you going to do to top this set?August 28, 2010 – 2:47 am

Andrew Wurst - I was the guy who talked to y’all after y’all were kicked out from under the pier! I just wanted to say your shots turned out amazing and yes the lighting under there was perfect! I hate to say it but no more that 15 mins after y’all left the beach patrol came down and announced they were going off duty and there will bbe no more life guards. But no worry you got amazing shots!August 27, 2010 – 6:28 pm

Jalys - Love these, Kase! Nice session and LURVE the lighting on the water ones!August 26, 2010 – 9:01 am

Rachael - Kasey you did amazing with Lindsay! Your right she is awesome to shoot, and the pier ones are AMAZING! My favorites of your work yet :) August 25, 2010 – 10:48 pm

Lindsay P - The one 3 pictures from the bottom (one the right) is my fave. Killer session Kase!! The light under that pier was so worth getting run off by beach patrol!August 25, 2010 – 10:09 pm

Laura - I feel like a dork for not having anything amzingly artistic or cool to say when you post new pictures…I love them all. The shots of her in the water are just beautiful. Your clients are so lucky to have you capture these moments. If I were your client I’d want to pick every picture to blow up and frame. I hope you have a lot of great clients in the future with this problem!August 25, 2010 – 12:20 am

Otto

A few days ago, my friend Stacey mentioned to me that she wanted some pictures of her dog, Otto.  If you know me, you know my love for dogs so of course I said yes!  We set up a doggie play date for Otto and Harley, and I brought along my camera.

Boy do I have to hand it to dog photographers!  Maybe it’s because I’m only used to shooting Harley (who is used to somewhat listening to me), but this was tougher than I thought!  I really had to work to get Otto to focus on me and not chase his ball or sniff under every single rock! :)  All in all, I think I managed alright.

Here’s Otto…up close and personal.

I think the way he curls his tongue up is so stinkin’ cute!

I’m pretty sure he’s smiling at me here…

And of course I just had to take a few of Harley also, although I’m not quite sure what she’s doing with her body here.

At the end I wanted to get a picture of both Otto and Harley together, but they were just too smart for me!  These two played tag team!  Once I got one to sit and stay the other would get up and vice-versa.  Cross my heart, I think they were doing it on purpose. :)  I think these next two capture that story quite well.

Teena - Kasey!!! Otto and Harley are tooooo cute!!! Otto and Dallas should be playmates :) August 20, 2010 – 10:04 am

Laura - I love your doggie photos. There’s a few that are my favorites in this bunch. The way Ottos tongue curls while sitting on the grass is super cute. You should make money as an animal photographer! I think the local zoo should hire you to take photos for any promotional materials!August 19, 2010 – 7:29 pm

Stan (J.R.) - Another Great photo shoot Kasey.August 19, 2010 – 5:48 pm

Michelle - Otto is too cute! I just love the way he/she sits! I love Miss Harley too!! Dog photos are TOUGH stuff! Congrats, they turned out great!August 19, 2010 – 4:04 pm

Married: Kirsten and Daniel

Kirsten and Daniel got married during an evening ceremony at the Holy Rosary Church in Houston.  The ceremony was beautiful and the reception hopping the entire time.  Kirsten and Daniel were such a pleasure to work with and I’m so happy I was able to help document their day.

Even though I have spent over half my life living in North Houston, I never really spent much time downtown. Over the past year being back here and shooting weddings I’m getting to know my way around downtown Houston pretty darn good if I do say so myself.  I’m no gps yet, but I’m getting there. :)

Enjoy some of my favorites from Kirsten and Daniel’s big day!

Meet Daniel

And his groomsmen

Daniel and Kirsten both went to A&M.  Even though I’m a Red Raider through and through, I love how Kirsten incorporated their university into her garter.

I love this next sequence where Kirsten is dancing with her brother.

There was lots of dancing all night.

Eric - My favorite pic was that of the Texas A&M logo! GIG’EM!August 6, 2010 – 1:40 pm

Laura - I love the sequences of photos you’re doing now. One of my favorites is the bride sitting down with her dress on the chair. My other favorites are just the detailing of the reception room, tables and flowers. And the sparkler one is very cool too. It’s amazing how you can be such a good photographer in all sorts of lighting and situations. Great job Kasey…they were lucky to have you as their photographer!August 6, 2010 – 1:04 am

Kristin - Kasey remarkable as always!!!August 5, 2010 – 10:56 pm
