Last night the beginnings of holiday baking started in my house. My mom loves to bake, so every year my dad and I get to request a dish or two. This year, I strayed away from my normal M&M cookies and politely asked for chocolate M&M brownies. I’m a fan of M&M’s. Obviously.
As I ventured into the kitchen I heard my mom say that she accidentally picked up brownie mix with walnuts. This statement was then followed by, “Kasey, it’s not that big of a deal. You’ll just have to eat around them.” To which I promptly replied, “Well, if it’s not that big of a deal, can’t you just pick them out of the brownie mix?”
It’s a known fact that I don’t like nuts in my brownies, or cookies for that matter. Eating around the nuts would completely take away from the joy of being able to eat my brownies carefree. You know, without having to worry about running into a nasty walnut. I mean, I’m already inhaling who knows how many calories…do I really need to worry about accidentally eating walnuts too?
I told mom it simply would not suffice. Ten minutes later, I was out the door on my way to the grocery store to pick up some walnut-free brownie mix. I guess you could say I’m kind of a brownie brat.
My impromptu trip to the grocery store last night was well worth it. I had a taste of one of my M&M walnut-free brownies this afternoon and they were delish! Mom’s baking never disappoints!
